Each year there are 2 monsoon seasons, the Northeast monsoon "iruvai", which occurs during December to April and the Southwest monsoon "hulhangu", occurring during June to August.

The wet season - southwest monsoon runs from mid-May to November. In this season Maldives experiences heavy rainfall and torrential gales.

Therefore, the best time to visit Maldives is during the dry season that is from December to April when Maldives weather generally remains warm with a pleasant sky and excess of sunshine.

With climate change, the weather has been pretty much unpredictable in the Philippines with rain in the middle of an extremely hot summer season. The storms are usually in September-October, not much in July. Do check weather forecasts a week before your flight. The malls and department stores in Ayala Center Makati are mostly interconnected so it's really not a problem during the rainy season. From Landmark to Glorietta to SM to Greenbelt and Rustans, there are covered walkways or bridges. For shopping areas in other cities, you can always take a cab as you move from one place to the other. Cab fares are very affordable in the Philippines if you were to compare it overseas. The beaches can still be enjoyed during the rainy season. It's not as crowded and the rates are lower during off-peak season! Photos may not be as nice when the skies are cloudy/gloomy vs bright/sunny but I'm sure you'll have loads of fun nevertheless. It's the company of family members that make any vacation trip enjoyable and memorable, rain or shine :) You can stay indoors when it rains, enjoy a good massage in a resort spa!
